About ANEMONA CRIȘAN

Anemona Crisan

My name is Anemona Crisan and I'm a visual artist based in Vienna (Austria).
I was born in 1980 to artist parents (sculptors) in Bucharest (Romania) and grew up in Austria, to where our family had moved in 1991 after the fall of the Iron Curtain.

My art practice involves two and three-dimensional works, from drawings and paintings to large scale site specific art and architecture projects in public space.

The central subject of my work is the human consciousness process that I depict through the human body.
Inspired by ancient knowledge, that fuses art, science and spirituality to a holistic understanding of existence, I show my contemporary view and interpretation of these ancient ideas and remind us of our power to think, form and manifest our existence and purpose in balance within us, with each other and with all planes of nature.

My Art Practice

Paving the Way to a new Understanding of Art

I see my art as a means to inspire people to "birth" themselves out of their unconscious into their conscious selves by embarking on a path of self-reflection through my art, thereby enabling the birth of a NEW EARTH and a NEW HUMAN (ITY).

My Art is a spiritual technology

I understand my art practice as a spiritual technology, it is the most powerful way for me to go deep into areas of self in a multidimensional way, addressing the hidden and unseen spiritual, emotional, mental and physical perspectives. It is an inner journey, that emerges from within and manifests as an art work without,  a journey into and out of my unknown Self.

My Art emerges from this place of unknown potentiality and is therefore a powerful helper on your inner journey of self discovery, self creation and self mastery, so I invite you to utilize my art as a spiritual technology of self initiation, that can inspire and help your deep inner guidance to surface on your path.

As an artist I’m a transformer and a creator.
I trans-form thoughts and emotions into physical matter through forms and shapes. I experience my art works as living beings, that go through a birthing process to come into this physical world. They are alive, they emanate emotions, thoughts and communicate and inspire me and the viewers, who find themselves in resonance with the art work.

My Art Works are Portals to the Inner World

My works on paper and canvas are portals that can inspire or activate me (and you), to open up to your inner world and invite you to an inner journey of self discovery. The same work can have different meanings at different times, as it mirrors your state of being.

My Site specific Art Works are Harmonizers of

Spaces and People

My large scale, site specific architecture related works are custom made for, on and with the place and space they are situated in, which means they take into account the people living and working in that space as well as the building itself, that has a character, an atmosphere and its own „needs“, just like a being. Beyond the manmade architectural space, there is Earth as the space of origin of all involved, which has to be integrated into the work as well.
In these site specific works, my highest intention is to express what needs to be expressed in the specific site for the highest good of all involved. This can range from harmonizing space, people and earth in order to enable a smooth, harmonious long lived coexistence of all involved, as well as an inspiring or activating  effect that can stimulate the energy, power of debate and co-operation/creation between people, place and architecture, taking into account and enabling all possible qualities this process can have.

Art is a connector of the left and right brain. It works with both, the mental level, like geometrical forms, references to scientific disciplines like astronomy or geology, and combines them with emotional, metaphysical and spiritual components to a new whole, that we can exprience with all our ways of perception. Therefore the experience of (my) art is not just passive mind-knowledge but an experience that you make with your whole being.
